Drebot O., Melnykov O., Sakharnatskа L., International experience in transitioning to organic agricultural production utilizing biotechnology. The article examines the world experience of transition to organic crop production with the use of biotechnology as a tool for increasing the economic efficiency of agricultural production. The current state of development of the world market for organic products is analyzed, the main directions of use of biofertilizers, biopesticides, biostimulants and microbial preparations in the organic farming system are determined. It has been noted that contemporary scientific research identifies three main economic advantages of using biotechnologies during the transition to organic production: reducing production costs; minimizing crop losses during the transition to organic farming, where the primary challenge is the three-year transition period; and building long-term economic sustainability as a distinct area of research associated with restoring soil fertility through microbiome management. The practical experience of the European Union, the USA, Australia and Brazil regarding state support for the transition to organic production, the introduction of biotechnology and stimulation of innovative development of the agricultural sector is summarized. The features of the stabilization and conversion period, their economic risks and the possibilities of minimizing them through the use of biotechnological solutions are studied. A comparative analysis of state support models is conducted and key factors of a successful transition to organic production are identified. Promising directions of adaptation of world experience to the conditions of Ukraine are substantiated, which include the development of domestic production of biological products, improvement of the state support system, integration of digital technologies and development of scientific and consulting infrastructure. Based on experimental studies using biotechnology in the cultivation of sunflower and soybean, an economic and statistical forecast of the assessment of the risks of transition to organic farming for a farm with a land fund of 1000 hectares was made. The calculations show that, although yields declined only slightly (by up to 7.0% for sunflower and 6.6% for soybean), overall production costs increased considerably, largely due to investments aimed at improving and maintaining soil quality. As a result, net profit decreased substantially: for sunflower, by 62.9% in 2024 and 68.7% in 2025, and for soybean, by 74.7% in 2024 and 68.9% in 2025. The highest break-even yields were estimated at 3.56 t/ha for sunflower and 2.62 t/ha for soybean, both of which represent relatively high productivity levels, even under conventional intensive farming systems. These results suggest that transitioning to organic farming entails considerable risk, as additional stress factors affecting crop production may further reduce yields and, in some cases, lead to financial losses.
