This Procedure regulates the procedure for the withdrawal (retraction) of already published scientific articles in the Journal of Management, Economics and Technology. Retraction is used as a tool for correcting the scientific record in cases of serious violations of academic integrity, ethical norms of publications or significant errors that cast doubt on the reliability of research results.
The main purpose of retraction is to ensure transparency of scientific communication, maintain trust in the journal and comply with high quality standards of scientific publications.
Grounds for retraction
Retraction may be initiated in the event of the establishment of the following violations:
- plagiarism, self-plagiarism or improper use of other people's materials;
- falsification or fabrication of scientific data or results;
- significant methodological errors leading to unreliable conclusions;
- copyright infringement or incorrect determination of authorship;
- re-publication without proper reference (duplication);
- undisclosed conflict of interest that affected the results of the study;
- other violations of the principles of scientific ethics and academic integrity.
Initiation of the retraction procedure
The initiators of the retraction procedure may be:
- the editorial board of the Journal;
- the authors of the article (in the format of voluntary retraction);
- reviewers or members of the editorial board;
- scientific institutions;
- other interested parties, provided that they are duly substantiated.
Review procedure
The editorial board conducts an initial assessment of the information received regarding a possible violation.
If necessary, an ethics commission is created or independent experts are involved.
The author(s) are necessarily informed about the beginning of the review and have the right to submit written explanations.
The procedure is carried out in compliance with the principles of objectivity, impartiality and confidentiality.
The impact of the identified violations on the reliability and scientific value of the publication is assessed.
Making a decision on retraction
The decision on retraction is made by the editorial board based on the results of the review.
If violations are confirmed, the article may be:
- fully withdrawn;
- partially withdrawn (individual data or fragments);
- or replaced with a correction (corrigendum), if the errors do not affect the key conclusions.
Retraction preparation
In the event of a retraction, the Journal ensures:
- publication of an official notice of the retraction of the article;
- a clear indication of the reasons for the retraction;
- preservation of the text of the article in the public domain with the mark “RETRACTED”;
- interconnection of the original publication with the retraction notice.
Rights and participation of authors
Authors have the right:
- to be informed in advance of the start of the retraction procedure;
- to provide explanations, arguments and supporting materials;
- to initiate a voluntary retraction or to appeal the editorial decision.
Ethical consequences of retraction
In the event of serious violations of academic integrity, the Journal reserves the right to:
- restrict further submission of materials from authors;
- inform employers or relevant scientific institutions;
- apply other measures in accordance with the internal ethical policy.
Confidentiality and transparency
All stages of consideration are carried out confidentially until the final decision is made. At the same time, information about the retraction is published openly to ensure transparency and trust in the scientific process.
The Journal of Management, Economics and Technology is guided by the international COPE recommendations for the retraction of scientific publications and systematically improves procedures for ensuring academic integrity and the quality of scientific content.
